Have you ever jumped into the void and miraculously found a parachute? It has happened to me and,
in fact, that’s how my story with Rock Content and my life as a freelancer began.
To explain, let’s go back to the beginning of 2018. For everyone, the beginning of a new year is full of
goals, desires and, in general, the desire to achieve a better lifestyle, and I knew that to achieve this I
had to change my life.
And things were not going well at home, from an economic point of view. Although I worked as a
sports journalist in a company with a long history and committed to the well-being of its workers, the
hyperinflation that my country (yes, Venezuela) is going through means that any salary in national
currency cannot cover the cost of living.
For that reason, I decided to notify the newspaper manager that my plan was to leave in the short
term, although I had no other specific project.
Some of my alternatives were to emigrate (but I didn’t have a defined destination) or to make an
investment to dedicate myself to commerce (I only lack one small thing: capital).
As you can see, working with Content Marketing was not one of my options , since I didn’t
even know what it was about. So how did I find Rock Content?

How did I find out about Rock Content?
To develop this point of the story, I have new zealand telegram data to thank a good friend. He is one
of those people who rarely speaks seriously, but when he does it is because he has something very
good to say.
In April 2018, he told me about a Content Marketing company , the largest in Latin America, that
paid very well for writing from home and that was concerned with training its network of freelancers.
I had already worked – for a couple of months – as a web editor from the comfort of my home,
although in reality it was not so comfortable: the advertising agency was late with payments and
demanded goals that were almost impossible for a single editor.
With that background, what my friend told me about Rock Content seemed too good to be true. It was
the parachute I had been waiting for! So, without giving it any more thought, I decided to take it, and
today I can say that I did not end up falling into the void.
What were my first tasks as a freelancer like?
To join Rock Content’s freelance five techniques to improve the speed of a web page network, I took a
test after reading a guide on content production provided by the company itself.
Once I passed it, I started submitting applications for the different text categories: Career, Business
Management, Entertainment, Health, among many others.

Almost immediately I had access text services to the first tasks, all as part of a project for a network of
universities in Mexico .
The content topics focused on career alternatives, guides on a specific degree, and advice for young
people and university students.
Despite my lack of experience in Content Marketing, since I learned everything related to this strategy
with Rock Content and through practice, I had no problems with the first tasks.
Fortunately, the topics were familiar and interesting to me, as university life was not foreign to me. I
had only received a degree in Social Communication three years earlier.
In addition, these first tasks also served to prove to me that Rock Content was indeed a source
of economic opportunities, just as my friend had told me. On April 25, 2018, I requested my first
payment, and it arrived in my account within a few hours!
The amount of the payment was almost 1 year of my old job’s salary! I remember that the next day I
did a very good shopping to celebrate that things were starting to improve – economically – at home.
What is my current position as a freelancer?
My life as a freelancer has been one of continuous improvement. I am no longer just involved with the Mexican university network project, as my job opportunities – and income – have increased as Rock Content has expanded its clientele in Latin America.
I currently write for at least 10 different projects , several of them for companies that provide technological solutions for the business sector. I also produce and review content for Rock Content’s Spanish blog , like the one you’re reading right now, by the way.
Logically, all this has translated into a great learning experience. Thanks to my experience in Rock, concepts and terms that are very valuable in this digital era, such as Content Marketing, SEO , Leads and Sales Funnel, among many others, are no longer foreign to me.
What is life like as a freelancer?
Not everything in my life as a freelancer is rosy, but it was definitely a very good decision to join the Rock Content network. In fact, it has given me so many benefits that I currently dedicate myself exclusively to content production on its platform ( Rock Studio ).
The biggest advantage of being a freelancer is that you are in control of your time. In my case, I am lucky enough to be able to spend much more time with my little daughter and my wife than I did when I was working in a traditional way, and now I am always at home!
Income, of course, cannot be left out. I no longer have a salary cap, but rather my skills and effort are what will determine how much money I can make.
As for the disadvantages of working as a freelancer, perhaps the only one is that you do not have the legal security and certainty of a traditional employee. For example, if you get sick for a week, you simply will not generate income.
Speaking of health, this is not a disadvantage, but it is a warning for those who plan to work as freelancers: watch your weight!
Working daily from the comfort of my home, which does not require me to walk, go up and down stairs or even run to avoid getting wet in the rain, I have gained a few grams.
Of course, Rock Content is not to blame. I just have to exercise in my free time and, above all, not hang around (or snack on) the kitchen so much.
Don’t follow my example!
What does being a Rock Content freelancer mean to me?
While my story with Rock Content is synonymous with flexibility and economic stability, it is also a daily challenge.
In addition to being a friendly company, Rock is known for its high quality standards. For this reason, I know that I must give my best in every line I write.
Although my short life as a freelancer has been full of learning, I am aware that I still have a lot to grow and improve. In fact, I believe that when it comes to content production, you never know everything.
There is always room for growth and better work can be done!
